Version: 1.1 — May 2026 | Effective date: 1 June 2026 | Last updated: 11 May 2026
1. Our position on copyright
1.1 QS Guidance Notes (the "Service", operated by Chiao-Lin Chen trading as QS Guidance Notes) respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects our users, subscribers, and visitors to do the same.
1.2 All content published on qsguidancenotes.com — including every guidance note, checklist, template, diagram, and the arrangement of the library — is original work authored by us or licensed to us. Where we reference third-party standards (such as RICS publications), we do so only for citation, education, and commentary purposes as permitted under the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.
1.3 If you believe material on our Service has been used in a way that infringes your copyright, this page explains how to request its removal.
2. How to report a copyright concern
2.1 If you believe content on qsguidancenotes.com infringes your copyright, please email hello@qsguidancenotes.com with the subject line "Copyright Concern".
2.2 To help us respond promptly, please include: your name and contact email; identification of the copyrighted work concerned; the URL(s) on our Site where the material appears; and a brief explanation of why you believe it infringes your rights.
2.3 We will acknowledge receipt within 2 working days and aim to investigate and respond within 10 working days. Where we agree the material infringes, we will remove or amend it and notify you of the action taken.
2.4 We will deal with all complaints in good faith. We do not operate a formal counter-notice procedure; if a dispute cannot be resolved informally, we may refer the matter to legal advisers and the parties may pursue remedies under UK law.
3. Bad-faith claims and misuse
3.1 Knowingly making a false or misleading statement when reporting a copyright concern may expose you to liability for losses suffered by the rights-holder, the alleged infringer, and us, including reasonable legal costs.
3.2 We will not entertain notices made in bad faith or used as a tool for commercial harassment, competitor suppression, or scraping of our contact processes. Repeated abusive notices may be reported to relevant authorities.
4. Repeat infringers
Under our Terms of Service, we will terminate the accounts of subscribers or users who are determined to be repeat infringers of copyright, and may refuse future service to them.
5. Our own copyright
5.1 All content on qsguidancenotes.com is © Chiao-Lin Chen trading as QS Guidance Notes. All rights reserved.
5.2 We actively monitor for unauthorised republication of our guidance notes and templates. Where infringement is identified, we will pursue takedowns, liquidated damages (per clause 9 of our Terms of Service), and legal remedies including injunctive relief.
5.3 If you wish to quote, reference, or link to any of our material in a way that might exceed the scope of UK fair dealing, contact hello@qsguidancenotes.com to request permission.
